Class B Motorhomes

Class B Motorhomes

The RV lifestyle is appealing because it offers a great deal of independence. Instead of being confined to the same neighborhood and home for years, you can travel around to explore different places. However, it isn’t for everyone, and some of my clients here at Robby The Camper Man want to dabble to see if they like it. I recommend class B camper vans to them.

What is a Class B Motorhome?

A class B motorhome is the smallest option in this category of vehicles. It is a van that has been converted to include some living space. I don’t recommend Class B for full-time use unless you don’t mind living in small quarters. Here’s a look at some of the most distinctive characteristics of a compact RV:

  • Small and Easy to Drive – These RVs are the size of traditional vans, which means you don’t need any special skills to drive them. They are comfortable, reliable, and can fit into any campground or park easily.

  • Fuel Efficiency – These vans deliver a lot of mileage and are a great choice for people who want to go on long drives. Unlike Class A or C, Class B RVs can deliver around 18-25 miles on a gallon. It can go farther if you lower the windows and turn down your climate control systems.

  • Affordable – This class of motorhomes still requires a high up-front investment, but it doesn't cost as much to maintain over the long term. Affordable Class B motorhomes require fewer repairs, experience less wear, and aren’t as expensive to fix.

  • Everything You Need – Don’t let the smaller size discourage you. These homes still have a dedicated living space, including a kitchen, sleeping area, bathroom, and toilet. Many of my clients can stay in them full-time without any issues. Most vans also have some storage space so you can keep all kinds of possessions with you instead of investing in a storage locker.

You can get a new Class B motorhome for sale and save a few hundred dollars on it. I sell good-quality vans from Gander RVs and can easily find a vehicle that fits your budget.

Used Class B Motorhomes

If a new home seems like a significant investment, consider getting a used van. These vehicles are an excellent condition and may only require a few upgrades to suit your lifestyle. They are strong, reliable, and will last for a long time if maintained well. Used products are just as efficient as new ones, which means they can be a good choice for people who are just starting.

I recommend Class B to adventurous couples who want to get away from daily life a few times in a year. A used compact motorhome is a great way to start, and you can always upgrade to a Class C or A if needed.
