Class C Motorhomes

Class C Motorhomes

There are three different kinds of RVs available today: Class A, Class B, and Class C. At Robby The Camper Man, I recommend Class C to customers that like a spacious mobile home but are on a limited budget. RV class C strikes the right balance between cost and functionality, which is why it is one of the most popular options for full-timers and part-timers.

Best Class C Motorhomes

Class C mobile homes fall between Class A and B when it comes to size. They are built on a truck's chassis and can handle different kinds of driving conditions. They have a cut-away or overhanging cab that provides additional storage or sleeping space. Here's a look at some of the most noticeable characteristics of the best Class C motorhomes:

  • Spacious – These vehicles aren't as compact as camper vans, making them an ideal choice for two or more residents. Standard class C RVs are around 96" wide inside and 99" wide outside. That's enough room to easily accommodate amenities like kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and even entertainment areas for 5-6 people.

  • Like a Car – Class C stands out because it looks like a car in the front. There are drivers and passenger seats, dividers, and a clear distinction between the driver’s cab and living areas. Many of my clients prefer this layout over Class A or B layouts because it is easier to keep things organized.

  • Cost – A new Class C RV cost can be in the $50,000 and $100,000 range, but it is possible to save money by buying a used RV, which can cost as low as $10,000. It means you can purchase one even on a tight budget. Older and smaller vehicles are more affordable, but they have higher maintenance costs.

You can choose from a wide range of designs and layouts. I always ask clients a few questions about their lifestyle, preferences, and priorities before recommending an option. Based on your travel plans, I can advise whether Class C diesel motorhome is more suitable, or you should stick with gas.

Used Class C Mobile Home

Clients always ask me whether they should buy a new or used mobile home, and there's no straightforward answer to that. If you're new to this lifestyle and don't want to go full-time, I'd recommend used vehicles. They are more affordable and ideal for a few long trips in a year.

I recommend looking at new class C RVs for sale if you intend to live in it full-time. They are more expensive but have the best amenities and are built according to modern standards. Newer models are more fuel-efficient, require less maintenance, and will last longer. Owners can avoid expensive repairs for a few years, especially if they take care of the vehicle.
